Unnamed woman
Age: 40
Shot: August, 2024
Residence: Bampur, Sistan and Baluchestan
Perpetrator: Brother
Excuse: ‘Honor’
A pregnant woman was killed by her brother in Bampur, a town in the Sistan and Baluchestan province, using a firearm. The motive for the crime was reported to be the victim's remarriage to her ex-husband. In August 2024, a 40-year-old woman from Bampur, who was five months pregnant, was murdered by her brother with a gunshot to the head due to an honor-related motive.
According to the Baluch Activists Campaign, the brother had repeatedly stated that the remarriage of his sister to her ex-husband, after their divorce, had brought shame upon him. The victim had sought refuge in a relative's home for protection. Ultimately, the suspect went to that house under the pretext of speaking with his sister and shot her to death.

We are pleased to announce the release of our 2024 report, titled "Stop Violence Against Women and Girls." This report sheds light on the harrowing reality of femicide in Iran, where approximately one woman is killed every other day simply for being a woman.
StopFemicideIran's mission is to combat femicide in Iran through a three-prong approach: documentation, education, and empowerment. SFI monitors and documents femicide cases, educates the public and human rights activists, and empowers grassroots organizations to advocate for women's rights. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
