Mohdeseh Mirzaie, a 30-year-old woman from Kermanshah, was murdered on July 13, 2025 by her ex-husband, Mohammad Karami. He lured her into a meeting under the pretense of discussing a possible reconciliation, but after an argument, he killed her. The perpetrator has been arrested. Mahtab was the mother of a five-year-old son, and her body was buried the same evening in Chahar Marjan Cemetery in Kermanshah.

StopFemicideIran's mission is to combat femicide in Iran through a three-prong approach: documentation, education, and empowerment. SFI monitors and documents femicide cases, educates the public and human rights activists, and empowers grassroots organizations to advocate for women's rights. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
