On Thursday, October 2, 2025 (Mehr 10, 1404), Raheleh Siyavoshi, a 26-year-old athlete and Wushu coach from Nahavand, was murdered by her husband, Homayoun Siyavoshi, who stabbed her to death. The murder was reportedly committed under the pretext of “protecting family honor.” He opposed her continued participation in sports activities. After committing the crime, he took his own life. The family initially claimed the incident was a car accident. Raheleh was the mother of a two-month-old baby and had won several national championships. Her body was buried on October 5, 2025 (Mehr 13, 1404) in Bagh-e Behesht, Nahavand.

SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
