Iranian media reported on Sunday, December 1, that Asma Ghazanfari, a female university student in Yasuj, committed suicide after being gang-raped by her classmates. According to reports, in recent days, a dispute arose in an active online group between a young woman and several male students from the same university. The male students claimed that during this verbal altercation, the young woman insulted their tribe.
It is said that the young men from the same tribe abducted the young woman and, after sexually assaulting and raping her, shared images of their actions on social media platforms, including Instagram. Media outlets stated that the student committed suicide following the incident.
The assault and rape of this female student were carried out by twelve young men from the same tribe, four of whom were university students. These four students have been arrested by the police, while the remaining eight are on the run.
