On May 17, 2025, in Firouzabad, Fars Province, a man killed his 23-year-old wife, Elyana Kouhi, and 45-year-old mother-in-law, Farideh Bagheri, by stabbing them multiple times. The motive was his wife’s request for a divorce.
Both women were taken to the hospital but died from severe injuries. The suspect fled the scene but was later arrested. According to Etemad Online, he confessed that the murders were driven by his wife's divorce request.
