On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in Ilam, Mohammad Naqi Azadi shot and killed his wife, Sedigheh Rostami, and her sister, Leila Rostami, due to family disputes, and seriously injured another family member. Azadi, who had a criminal record and a history of domestic violence and had spent the past two years in prison, took his own life with the same firearm after committing the murders.
