A man in Mashhad brutally murdered his wife in front of their four and six-year-old children, claiming that an argument over "cooking food" led to such a crime. On Saturday evening, 16th March 2024, a 36-year-old man in Mashhad, the center of Khorasan Razavi province, killed his young wife inside their home. This man, identified as "Amir-Z," after killing his wife, sat beside the corpse until the next day's noon, with two young children present in the house, without informing anyone. Despite such evidence prompting the authorities to issue a transfer order for the suspect to be taken to the legal medical center, he claimed during initial interrogations that he got into a fight with his wife over "cooking food" and stabbed her to death. Additionally, the two children, victims of this heinous domestic violence, have been transferred to welfare for treatment and are under the supervision of a psychiatrist.

SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
