Soraya Alimohammadi, a 32-year-old woman from Saqqez, was set on fire by her husband due to a “family dispute” and died after several hours in the hospital because of the severity of her injuries. It is reported that she had repeatedly attempted to separate from her husband in previous years, but due to lack of support from her paternal family, she was forced to continue the marriage.

StopFemicideIran's mission is to combat femicide in Iran through a three-prong approach: documentation, education, and empowerment. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
