October 5, 2023, Shahin Ebrahimzadeh, a 21-year-old from the village of "Golan" in Sardasht, was taken outside the village by her father and uncle and subsequently murdered due to what has been called an honour killing.
Shahin Ebrahimzadeh was initially suffocated by these two family members and then subjected to multiple blows to her body. Nevertheless, after two years of married life, she separated from her husband and returned to her parents' home. Shahin Ebrahimzadeh had once again found a suitor and it is believed that she was murdered by her family members because of their anger over her relationship with the suitor.

StopFemicideIran's mission is to combat femicide in Iran through a three-prong approach: documentation, education, and empowerment. SFI monitors and documents femicide cases, educates the public and human rights activists, and empowers grassroots organizations to advocate for women's rights. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
