A man in the Bazargan district of Maku murdered his wife and 11-year-old son, identified as Safa Mostafazadeh and Danial Alizadeh. The perpetrator, who also attempted suicide, killed his wife under what is perceived as "honor."
On January 18, 2025, a man in Maku, identified as Yaser Alizadeh, killed his 31-year-old wife, Safa Mostafazadeh, and their 11-year-old son, Danial Alizadeh. She had recently filed for divorce, which led her husband to kill her.
