Simin Joghtaei, a 20-year-old law student at Azad University of Taybad, was murdered on July 12, 2025 (Tir 21, 1404) in Taybad, Razavi Khorasan Province, after a week of torture and beatings by her four brothers, who suspected her of having a phone relationship with a man. They killed her by striking her neck with a shovel. The injuries were so severe that her body was unrecognizable. The perpetrators have been arrested, but due to the parents’ consent, they may be released in the near future.

StopFemicideIran's mission is to combat femicide in Iran through a three-prong approach: documentation, education, and empowerment. SFI monitors and documents femicide cases, educates the public and human rights activists, and empowers grassroots organizations to advocate for women's rights. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
