On July 19, 2025, Hamid Bastami, 39, from Khorramabad, killed his two wives — Farzaneh Sadeghi (a teacher) and Elham Salari, 40 — along with his two sons, Amir Abbas (10) and Amir Mahdi Bastami (11), by cutting their throats with a bladed weapon.
Bastami, an employee of the Martyrs Foundation, filmed the victims’ bodies and claimed he committed the murders because he was denied a job promotion and a managerial position. He attempted suicide afterward but survived and is currently under medical care. Rokna, omitted the identities of those involved and described the motive as “family disputes.”
Elham Salari was buried on July 20 in Dar al-Islam Cemetery, and the two children on July 21 in Salehin Cemetery, Khorramabad.

StopFemicideIran's mission is to combat femicide in Iran through a three-prong approach: documentation, education, and empowerment. SFI monitors and documents femicide cases, educates the public and human rights activists, and empowers grassroots organizations to advocate for women's rights. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
