According to Rokna, on Sunday, March 31, 2023, a 38-year-old woman from Urmia was murdered by her husband through suffocation, and her body was left in their car. Recently, a man on the road between Urmia and Naghadeh suffocated his wife with his hands, leading to her death. The suspect, after murdering his wife, abandoned her body inside the car on the highway and went into hiding. Following his arrest, the man confessed to killing his wife, and government media outlets, citing him, have labeled the motive for the crime as "family disputes."

StopFemicideIran's mission is to combat femicide in Iran through a three-prong approach: documentation, education, and empowerment. SFI monitors and documents femicide cases, educates the public and human rights activists, and empowers grassroots organizations to advocate for women's rights. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
