A woman identified as Sorya (last name unknown), with a disability, was killed in the city of Ardabil after being sexually assaulted by her neighbor. According to a report by Hengaw, in early October 2024, a 39-year-old woman named Sorya, who had a visual impairment, was killed in her own home in Ardabil following a sexual assault by her neighbor. According to Behrouz Morovati, the head of the Disability Campaign, the suspect entered Sorya's home while she was out and waited for her return from a gathering. He then sexually assaulted her, and in the ensuing struggle, killed her. The suspect had used a woman’s headscarf to hide his identity, making it difficult for the police to identify him. A few days after the incident, the suspect was arrested on suspicion and, during interrogation, confessed to the crime.
