A young woman named Shahin Govili was killed by her husband in Sanandaj. The murderer, while setting his wife on fire, also committed self-immolation and lost his life.
On May 1, 2024, a young woman in Sanandaj, identified as Shahin Govili, who was also the mother of a 14-year-old child, died from injuries caused by burns at Kosar Hospital in Sanandaj. Shahin was set on fire by her husband, Mehran Mohammadi, at their father-in-law's house in the Ghafoor neighborhood of Sanandaj on Saturday, April 27.
Shahin had returned to her parents'house some time ago due to a disagreement with her husband and had requested a divorce. On the day of the incident, Mehran had asked her to return home, and after Shahin refused, Mehran poured gasoline on both her and himself and set them on fire.
