Atefeh Zaghibi, 17 years old and a victim of child marriage from Shushtar in Khuzestan Province, was killed by her father and brother with a firearm while holding her infant in her arms. The motive behind the crime was Atefeh’s escape with a young man and her marriage to him. On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Atefeh Zaghibi, 17, from the Shuyaybah district of Shushtar, was shot and killed by her father and brother with sixteen bullets in front of her baby.
Atefeh’s father and brother, disguised in military clothing, entered her home and, after her husband fled due to fears of being arrested by authorities, they killed her by shooting her multiple times.
According to Rokna news, two years ago, Atefeh ran away with a man, and a year ago, after paying 600 million tomans to her family to settle disputes in accordance with the "Fasl" tradition and to officially recognize the marriage, her father, upon receiving the money, had threatened to kill his daughter.
