On October 2, 2024, Fatemeh Moradpour, a 15-year-old girl from Rumeshkan in Lorestan province, committed suicide by hanging after being pressured by her family to marry a married man. Her family was attempting to marry her off to a 40-year-old married man.
Despite her young age, she repeatedly expressed her opposition to the marriage. Unable to endure her family's persistence, she ultimately hanged herself and passed away.

StopFemicideIran's mission is to combat femicide in Iran through a three-prong approach: documentation, education, and empowerment. SFI monitors and documents femicide cases, educates the public and human rights activists, and empowers grassroots organizations to advocate for women's rights. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
