A woman was killed by her husband with a cold weapon in Shahr-e Rey, a suburb of Tehran. The motive behind the murder was cited as "honor preservation." This September, a woman was murdered by her husband in Shahr-e Rey with a knife wound to the neck, while their young child witnessed the killing of their mother.
According to Tasnim, the murderer, who is now in custody, reported the incident to the police, claiming that he was asleep in the yard at the time of the incident and, upon waking, found his wife's body in the living room and called for help. Subsequently, one of the couple's young children stated that the night before the incident, they saw their father standing over their mother with a knife. Neighbors of the family also mentioned family disputes and conflicts between the couple.
Initially, after being detained, the suspect denied any altercations or issues with his wife, but eventually confessed to the murder, stating that he killed his wife on suspicion of her relationship with another man.

SFI monitors and documents femicide cases, educates the public and human rights activists, and empowers grassroots organizations to advocate for women's rights. SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
