International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. In Iran, women and girls are annually subjected to violence, including murder, acid attacks, and torture, by family members and the government of the Islamic Republic. According to collected statistics, from November 1, 2022, to November 25, 2023, at least 178 women in various cities have been murdered by family members for reasons related to honor or family disputes. Moreover, many women in Iran were killed by the government during the protests against the government's killings, such as the case of Mahsa Amini. This violence against women persists in Iran and is on the rise. The murder of Armita Geravand is another example of suppression and violence against women and girls in Iran.
