According to Hamshahri Online, a 34-year-old woman from Fuman County in Gilan Province, named Matin Tayebikhah, was stabbed to death in her home on Sunday, September 22, 2024. A 47-year-old man was also murdered by the same individual at the same location and in the same manner. The suspect, a 39-year-old employee at one of Rasht’s hospitals, fled after the murders but was arrested a few hours later.
His motive for committing the crime has been stated as "preserving honor." Matin Tayebikhah, who was also the mother of two children, was buried today in her hometown of Fuman. She worked as a hairdresser in Rasht. Government-affiliated media have reported that, like many other femicides, the killer's motive was attributed to family and personal disputes.
