According to Hengaw, in October 2024, Farideh Mahaki, 25 years old and from the village of Rezaabad in Ramian County, Golestan Province, was murdered by her relatives in the village of Nili within the same county. This was done through assault and the forced administration of poisonous pills, after which she was buried without notifying her close family.
Farideh Mahaki had set out to visit her family home in the village of Nili, leaving from her residence in Rezaabad, using a ride booked by her husband through the Snapp service. When she was delayed in reaching her family home, her family contacted the driver, who informed them that the passenger had requested to go to Bojnord. After several days of searching, Farideh’s father, grandfather, and uncle located her in Bojnord, brought her back to the village of Nili, and there, she was murdered.
In Nili, Farideh was killed by her family members through beating and forced ingestion of poisonous pills. Two days later, she was buried without her relatives being informed, and no funeral ceremony was held for her.
