According to "IranWire" report, on International Women's Day, a 25-year-old woman named Halaleh Eliasi, from Akhkanad village in Saqqez, ended her life due to the constant physical abuse and domestic violence inflicted by her husband.
Mrs. Eliasi was forced by her family to marry a man 12 years her senior when she was 21 years old, and since then, she had been subjected to various forms of domestic violence by her husband. Halaleh Eliasi had repeatedly asked her family and relatives in the past years, before resorting to suicide, to support her in separating from her abusive husband, but each time they persuaded her to reconcile and preserve the marital life, returning her to her husband's home.

SFI also aims to raise awareness and advocate for policy reforms to prevent and respond to femicides in Iran.
